When it comes to submission, do we misquote and misunderstand what is being said when we leave out the 21st verse?
Whenever I hear this passage of scripture being taught/preached, the speaker ALWAYS starts with the 22nd verse. BUT when u start with the 21st verse, the perception of the rest of the text changes.
What say you, NCC

No, actually its not really left out, because the next few verses go in depth on that verse. Apostle Peter explained this point also in his epistles. The problem is "submit" sounds bad in the mind of most women and men, especially if the men are used to dominating and the women are tired of being dominated. _________________ Be blessed, speak blessed....

Thanks TeamB.
My point for this post is that i realized for the first time, with the help of a few good teachers that 'headship' is NOT the purpose for this passage of scripture like so many of us have been taught.
Paul was not talking about the 'head' in terms of authority and covering but in terms of the head working with the body to be complete, joined together, being one flesh, v31 and 32.
I believe this scripture has been twisted but many and have been one cause of physical, mental, emotional and verbal abuse in marriage within the church.
I know of people who have been abused by their spouses (both men AND women). They went to their pastor for assitance and the pastor most times makes the woman feel as though she is the cause of the problem, like she must have done something to make her husband abuse her.
Why is that?
When the woman in the bible was caught in the very act of adultry, the people dragged her out by her hair into the street where they questioned and humiliated her but she wasn't caught having an adulterous affair with herself, where was the man and why was he not brought to justice as well?
Why do we not explore the other angles of this passage of scripture? Is it because we cannot deal with the guilt of turning a blind eye and deaf ears to injustices within the church, especially when leaders are involved as the abusers?
Why do we not talk about abuse in the church? How can you deliver people from an issue you fail to address? How can a wound get better lest it's treated?

Its the great "BATTLE OF 3:16"- GENSIS 3:16 vs JOHN 3:16 & Colossians 3:16, with 2nd Timothy 3:16 as the referee.
There is a Jewish prayer that is recited by the Rabbis, which goes back many many years. It shows the heart of how many feel even to this day:
Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, shelo asani ishah; "Blessed are You, O Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe, Who did not make me a woman." _________________ Be blessed, speak blessed....

Hmm, interesting.
So this biasness started long ago???? My question is what does God say about 'woman'?
Just cuz ur a leader doesn't mean u always right nor does it mean u always LEAD right.
I guess this is another thing on the pile of other things we will be judged on when god cracks the sky.
Oh my, how this bias teachings and others have caused many to error and what a great charge to be laid on a leader on any denomination and belief. _________________ Livin My Life Like It's Gold'n |

Apostle Paul expressed the heart and mind of Christ in Ephesians and Galatians. GOD's position on this is that women are equal to men in almost every way. In certain places, GOD places men in the lead, and in others, women. In the Church, it is not a "male/female" debate, but a "whose got the vision?" debate. _________________ Be blessed, speak blessed....

Whether it be Bishop, Deacon or Husband; when the admonition is ruling it is always taken the wrong way in my circles of denomination.
True and proper ruling is to take care of and insure everyone and thing is well. Not dictatorship and an Iron Hand! _________________ Psalms 40:1-2
